Coupon Lingo Glossary

Blinkie - coupons that come out the the red box with the blinking light, found at many grocery stores

BOGO - buy one get one (free); this also works with numbers as in B1G2 (buy 1 get 2 free), B3G1 (buy 3 get 1 free), etc.

Catalina - These are the coupons that print out when you buy certain items at grocery stores. Catalina is the name of the company that makes the machines.

CPN - coupon

ECB - Extracare Bucks These are the coupons that print out at the register at CVS. They are used like gift certificates, but in order to use them, your order total must exceed the value of the ECB. See Introduction to Drug Stores for more info.

ESR - EasySaver Rebate This is a rebate through Walgreen’s EasySaver Catalog rebate program. See Introduction to Drug Stores for more info.

FAR - Free After Rebate

FL - Food Lion

HT - Harris Teeter

MC - manufacturer’s coupon

MIR - Mail in Rebate (not a Russian satellite)

OOP - Out of Pocket

Peelie - a peelable coupon found on the outside of a product or on product packaging

P&G - Proctor & Gamble, a company that makes many different products and provides coupons for their items once a month in a newspaper insert

RP - Red Plum, one of the companies that produces coupon inserts found in the newspaper

RR - Register Rewards These are the coupons that print out at the register at Walgreen’s. They are used like gift certificates, but in order to use them, your order total must exceed the value of the Register Reward.

SCR - Single Check Rebate This is a rebate through Rite Aid’s Single Check Rebate program. See Introduction to Drug Stores for more info.

SS - Smart Source, one of the companies that produces coupon inserts found in the newspaper
